[dropcap style=”square”]T[/dropcap]ucked along the rugged northern coastline of County Donegal, Tra Na Rossan Beach is the perfect spot for those who prefer secluded, wild beaches. Hidden on the Rosguill Peninsula near the village of Downings, it’s known for its soft golden sand, rocky cliffs surrounding the area, and dramatic scenery. Facing directly into the North Atlantic, the beach is at the mercy of the ocean’s moods so the waves and wind are often strong and unrelenting. If you want a beach that challenges your swimming and surfing skills, then this is definitely the place. There is also a trail connecting Tra Na Rossan to the famous Murder Hole Beach, though calling it a ‘walk’ almost feels too gentle a word. The route is steep and adventurous but the view at the top is worth it.
