My Home: County Sligo

Woodturner Matt Jones lives in the village of Riverstown and recommends his favourite places in and around his hometown in Co. Sligo.

[dropcap style=”square”]I[/dropcap]’m originally from Wales, studied art in London where I met my Irish wife and after buying our first family home in Wales where we lived for five years, we relocated to the West of Ireland to be closer to my wife’s elderly parents. I live in a small village called Riverstown with Imelda and our two youngest children Nancy and Patrick. Our two eldest, Ffion and Thomas, have flown the coop. I’m a professional woodturner and have a workshop here next to the house. I built my own home. It was a refurbishment of a former stables that my wife and her siblings played in as children and we designed our home to be low energy. We grow vegetables, keep hens and bees, and both Imelda and I are interested in environmentalism.
