[dropcap style=”square”]P[/dropcap]aula and Dale surprised everyone with their unique self-build home in Cookstown, County Tyrone. The couple have created a stunning, rustic styled home with lots of quirks and attention to detail.

We grew up in Cookstown, and when it came to finding the perfect location for our home we decided to stay in the area,’ says Paula. ‘We bought the site, which had been for sale for a number of years, and everyone thought we were mad! People that drove past to look at the site thought that it was only good enough to keep a pony on, because it was so small. We think it is safe to say that everyone is very surprised about what we have been able to build and still have room for a garden and driveway!’

Paula continues, ‘Once we bought the site, we had real complications getting planning approval, which meant we had to live in a mobile home on the site for three years!
