Spectacular Salvias

This month Conrad McCormick injects some colour into your summer garden.

[dropcap style=”square”]T[/dropcap]here’s nothing quite like Salvias to add a punch of colour to the summer garden. Salvias grown for their flowers are the flamboyant cousins of culinary sage. Their vibrant fiesta shades will bring colour to the summer garden from May through until November. The name ‘Salvia’ derives from the Latin salveo, meaning ‘I heal’ or ‘I save’. The herb we use in the kitchen is Salvia officinalis and was utilised by the ancient Greeks and Romans as a healing plant.
