Hedge Appeal

There can be so much more to a hedge than a boring green mass, defining your garden’s boundaries. They provide green architecture and can combine beauty and utility, texture and structure, shaping spaces, providing privacy, and bring year-round interest to your outdoor space.

[dropcap style=”square”]W[/dropcap]hen choosing a hedge, consider the style of your garden and your specific needs. For instance, if you’re looking for a wildlife-friendly option, a mixed hedge of hawthorn, holly, and wild roses offers both food and shelter. For a formal look, evergreen options like yew provide clean lines and symmetry. If you’re short on patience, fast-growing hedges like privet or laurel can be used, but bear in mind they will need more pruning over the summer to keep them in check. On the other hand, if you have a more relaxed timeline, moderately-growing options such as beech, hornbeam and holly will reward you with long-lasting beauty.
