Grass is not always greener

[dropcap style=”square”]W[/dropcap]hen we think of grass, we automatically think of lush green lawn grass. Ornamental grasses on the other hand, come in all shapes and sizes and colours too. There are so many different varieties which can add colour and texture to any planted border.

There are many ornamental grass species which are evergreen and while it states evergreen, the colour may not even be green, they will definitely bring colour to your garden during the winter months when all other plants have gone into hibernation. On top of the attractiveness of planting ornamental grasses within the garden, the high visibility of their flowers throughout the year brings visual interest into herbaceous borders during winter months. They are also extremely low maintenance and generally only need a cut to the ground or tidied up once a year.
